Becoming a member of the Jesus’ Cadets International, Inc. organization is a huge step toward taking back a lost culture of becoming one with nature. Nature is best described as “the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creations.” Nature existed before the creation of mankind. God gave Adam and Eve dominion over all that nature would bring, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:26) Humanity has generated many wonderful agricultural and technical achievements. And as needful as these things are, they do not remove the sense of accomplishment one gains from understanding and applying the knowledge received from the study of our cohabitation with the environment.

J-DETS, as we are often called, prepares a child to be able to co-exist with God’s creatures and vegetation while taking advantage of the technology which gives an upper hand in many of the associated tasks. Take for example the skill of navigation; today Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) has relieved us of such tasks as dead reckoning, pilotage, radio navigation, plotting and or star gazing. However, J-DETS continue to create an awareness of these skills in our cadets.  An accomplished J-DET can tell the hour of the day with a stick and shadow during the day and find directions at night by observing the stars.

 

Developing discipline is focused on strongly as a valuable leadership trait. Discipline has become more of a choice than a culture. Children are making life decisions much sooner than youth of yesteryear. J-DETS helps children to not only understand the gift of leading but also the discipline required as a follower. Great leaders come from the fold of greater followers. Our world is thirsty for those who have cultivated a healthy character of leadership skills. J-DETS assures each cadet of the opportunity to learn leadersip by developing the skill of training from a well-organized program of merits.

Fun, fun, fun. Our uniforms and structured meetings may cause some to question, from the outside, whether we are a fun or simply functional society. We are both fun and functional. The youth make lasting friendships with their co-cadets while supporting each other through study and training in life skills which will enhance their future endeavors long into adulthood.

We proudly honor, teach and worship our Lord and Saviour Jesus the Christ. We begin and conclude our endeavors with prayer and thanksgiving. We believe that the Creator of all is the best source of information for every challenge that we may encounter. We show our love by taking seriously His delegation of power over His creation.

We invite you to become one with us as we continue to grow our youth in the various and unique skills that are sure to provide a healthy source of options far more than those who do not.  We Welcome you to take the challenge!
